AC Milan, after a drop in form last season, the team promised to make stunning signings and to prepare a squad capable to bounce back and win both domestic and continental titles, is it
happening? Let's have a closer look…
happening? Let's have a closer look…Goalkeepers:
Dida - Kalac - Abbiati
No doubt that was one of the most controversial topics last season, Dida floppy display, sometimes disgraceful, and Kalac the old uncertain depth. This season the two old guys will remain, but based on preseason, it seems like non of them will be the first option, Abbiati seems to be welling to snap his opportunity this time, Kalac is most probably the second, Dida is the cheer leader!

Defenders:
Zambrotta – Maldini – Kaladze – Nesta – Oddo - Jankulovski – bonera - Darmian - Antonini
A team called Milan, is a team of best defenders in the world…out of date? or still true?
In perfect situations, a defense including (Zambrotta, Maldini/ Kaladze, Nesta, Oddo) (Jankulovski/ Kaladze, Maldini, Nesta, Zambrotta) Match that standard, but life is never perfect. Maldini and Nesta injured and injury prone, Zambrotta as a new comer may not find it as hard to adapt as he suffered in Spain, Oddo need to gain back his form, Jankulovski need to start offering Milan what he offer his national team, then no doubt he will be a great asset! Last but not least, bonera with all his ups and down.
Keeping in mind that, Antonini is also an option that could be a good surprise for Milan on LB, even though he is more expected to be used in midfield.
Yet, having Maldini and Nesta on the treatment table, getting a new CB seems to be crucial for Milan,Senderos capure the way it happened is a perfect solution for Milan, no risk for a defender whom if bounced back to his pre injury form can be a great aset for future.

It may not be the best combination of defenders in Milan history, but still you cant label it as "weak".
My major question I have, will it work having Jankulovski and zambrotta together in deffence? two backwards who go forward too often leaving space behind, two players who are not known to be the best in positioning themselves to cover far posts when the team is under attack? ITime will tell...
Midfielders:
Midfielders:
Pirlo - Flamini - Gattuso - Seedorf – Ambrosini – Emerson – Brocchi – Mathias.
Based on the tactical structure, the best way to evaluate Midfield is to splice it on two, DMs and AMs.
The most likely scenario is that the midfield will have two DM and an AM, and I believe that’s the best structure taking in consideration that the three players who will play forward are not known as helpful defensively.
In that sense (in my opinion), Flamini, Gattuso, Emerson, and Brocchi are those who will play as DM; while Pirlo and Seedorf will handle playmaking as AMs while Ambrosini can play as a mix in a structure of (DM, CM, & AM), Mathias still a player to develop a role.
Signing Flamini will prove being the best signing for this summer, not only for Milan, based on the "price/ quality/ impact" he is the best transfer in Europe for the following season. Gattuso need to earn back "that flame" he missed last season, Brocchi if Milan kept him will help a good option to rest players, Emerson, well…frankly

he wasn’t a smart transfer and I am not sure what he can offer anymore.
Will Seedorf accept playing in that new role? Switching between playing midfielder once and forward wing another time will be the best for the team, and will give all the players better opportunities to play. Will Pirlo reach his form again and feel the competition on places which will blow back the energy in his legs? If so, then Milan will be a team to beat in Italy.

Forwards:
Pato – Ronaldinho – Borriello – Inzaghi – Shevchenko – Borriello – paloschi – Tabare' - Seedorf (as I mentioned switched between midfield and forward).
I admit Milan is adventurous! They made really risky signings… the best scenario that it work,
Ronaldinho reach his peak again, and Shevchenko perform as he once did before missing that CL penalty , if so then Current Milan board will write their name in football history as the most intelligent board in picking the best players to buy.
Worst scenario? They both flop, and that board will turn to be a source of fun.
What will be the best combination? Ronaldinho, sheva, kaka? Again based on which scenario will happen, the best or the worst…but no doubt Shevchenko can be great help, and the biggest concern that pato may pay the tax of Sheva transaction is not true, I believe playing with sheva will help pato and paloschi to mature fast and gain what will needed to turn them to best class strikers.
So as long as paloschi will not be forgotten in Milan, as it is typically happening for talented young Italians in most of the major teams in Italy (foreigners get chances, local youth benched forever, and Borriello first round story with Milan is the most recent example).
Getting Borriello back will be an added value, and Roni still have a touch on the ball, I can't expect that he will dribble a zillion players and score again, but he still have the passing skill and in a "slower" pace league compared to Spanish, if he improves his fitness level, he can add something special, the ronaldinho flavor.
Carlo Ancelotti is an experience coach now, I think he took a deep breath for keeping his job after last season mess, may be one
of the reasons is the fact the board feel relaxed with this coach, why? They signed Sheva one hour after Ancelotti said Sheva is not coming…he had no idea what was happening…hint understood? What about that old story about using one striker, using two striker…he is an easy going coach with the board, and the prime minister like it! But I am not sure if he will like it if the team collapsed again – especially in midfield – if they played against young team (like arsenal?) where age – old age- will not give them the edge.
